Edward Leahy Obituary

Leahy, Edward J.
Edward J. Leahy, age 65 of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Born in Bridgeport to the late Adrian J. and Helen (Skolinsky) Leahy, he was a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany during Vietnam. Ed was a Master Plumber. He learned the trade mainly from his father and attended Bullard Havens as well.
He had a passion for the New York Yankees and drag racing and was a longtime member of the NHRA. Ed owned his own dragster, a 1969 Camaro and always enjoyed making modifications and mechanical enhancements. He was a true animal lover, specifically of German Shepherds.
Ed is survived by his loving children, Megan Apicello and her husband, Nick of Waterbury and Brian Leahy of Stratford. He will also be missed by his brother, Adrian J. Leahy and his wife, Mary-Ann of Milford; his sister, Maureen L. Barry of Fairfield; his significant other, Norma Santiago of Bridgeport; his lifelong friend, Bobby Doxey; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Fred Barry.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

"Eddie" and I grew up together on Parking in Fairfield Center. We had a lot of fun as kids. I will never forget him as a valued part of my past. He was a great person.
