Eleanor Karlak
Eleanor Ann Karlak "Ele", age 95, formerly of Seymour CT, a resident of Haverhill MA, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2025 at Wingate Residences.
Born in Bridgeport CT on July 11, 1930, Eleanor was the beloved daughter of the late John and Anna (Mako) Tomko. She graduated from Central High School Bridgeport and Larson College (now Quinnipiac University). Eleanor married Stephen Karlak and moved to Seymour into the house they built together. She was predeceased by her husband Stephen on July 28, 1983.
Eleanor worked as a bookkeeper and secretary, raised a family, then returned to work later retiring as a sales assistant for RAF Electronic Hardware after 18 years. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening and canning, traveling, garage sales, loved being at the beach and her beloved Cape Cod, and was always helping family and friends. She was a Past Matron and organist of Olive Chapter OES, active member of Seymour Congregational Church UCC and the choir, and a member of Oxford and Shelton Senior Centers.
Eleanor is survived by daughter Lauren Karlak Sullivan and son-in-law Kevin of West Newbury MA, son David Karlak and longtime partner Sean Conner of Cota, CA, grandchildren Paige (Sullivan) Winslow (husband Jonathon) of Auburn CA and Connor Sullivan (wife Melissa Warner) of Medford MA, and great-grandchildren Eleanor Winslow and Vivian Winslow. She is predeceased by her brother John Tomko Jr.
Family and friends will be received on Friday July 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Miller Macari Family Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, Seymour, CT 06483. Private burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite cause - My Sister's Place in Ansonia via supportumbrella.org.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and aides who helped Eleanor in many ways.

Eleanor was my dear friend, we worked together for many years. We both retired together and spent many happy times on our trips , and swimming at the pool in Huntington center. We always stayed in touch, I will miss her.
