Elsie Minty-Meyer Obituary

MINTY-MEYER Elsie Minty Meyer, age 93, of Bridgeport, died Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 3030 Park Health Center, Fairfield. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Minty Sr., and Lloyd H. Meyer. Mrs. Minty-Meyer was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late John and Rose Schwarz. She lived most of her life in the Bridgeport/Trumbull area, having spent some years residing in Florida. Mrs. Minty-Meyer was the retired president and treasurer of the Pembroke Laundry Inc., a member of the former Algonquin Club, active in their bowling league and past member of the Mill River and Patterson Country Clubs. Survivors include two sons, William H. Minty Jr. and his wife, Zaina of Stratford and John G. Minty and his wife, Patricia L. of Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Gail M. Gavin and her husband, Richard R. of Washington, Vt. and Sharon M. Naftzger and her husband, John W. of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, William H. Minty III, Todd, Brent, Troy and Paige Minty, Kimberly Anderson, Laurie Kattar, J. Christopher Naftzger and Jeffrey Naftzger; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Wilma Simses; and two brothers, Donald F. Schwarz and John G. Schwarz. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the United Congregational Church, Bridgeport, with Rev. Douglas Miller, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, (Today) at 4 to 8 p.m. at the Redgate Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Those who so desire may make contributions in her memory to the Connecticut Hospice, 680 Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484.
