Elsie came into our lives 18 years ago after we had just moved to Southport. After the surprise of learning that our backyard neighbors were the Sides, I realized that my grandmother, Gertrude Sides O'Connell, had been Bill Sides' aunt. My parents then got to reunite with Bill and Elsie after many years, and I know how much that meant to them all.
The years that followed have so many sweet memories...Bill helping our Tim to do his family tree for a school project (Bill had records going back to pre Columbus I think}, Bill mentoring Tim through Scouts, Elsie kicking the soccer ball with Luke and always having those wooden blocks in the closet for him, the blueberry bushes, Bill's flag, stories about Uncle Doc, countless hours on the screened porch sipping cold ones, the dog biscuits they always kept for Millie, the incredible meals Elsie prepared for us, the laughs, the walks around the block. To all the Sides, thank you for sharing Elsie with us.What a great lady! She is and always will be in our hearts.
Love, Sally, Larry, Tim, and Luke Pezanko
