Eric Treidel

TREIDEL Eric Treidel, age 90, of Fairfield, died Wednesday November 14, 2007 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Mr. Treidel was born in Mayen, Germany a son of the late Alfred and Mathilde Treidel and immigrated to the United States in 1938. Mr. Treidel was a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II and served in an anti-aircraft unit and in counter intelligence. He fought in the European Theatre at the battles of Normandy, The Bulge, helped to liberate the Nordhausen concentration camp, and was decorated for his heroism. Mr. Treidel was a Past President of Temple Shalom in Port Charlotte, Florida, and the recipient along with his wife of the distinguished service award. Mr. Treidel was a member of the American Legion and Jewish War Veterans. Mr. Treidel is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gertrude (Chait) Treidel of Fairfield, CT., his devoted children, Alfred and Ann Treidel of Easton, CT., Bruce and Dana Treidel of New Fairfield, CT., Lisa and Keith Levinson of Yorktown Heights, NY., a cherished brother and sister in law Walter and Ivern Treidel of Denver, Colorado and by his adored grandchildren, Robin Treidel, Mindy and Jeff Rockower, Lauren Treidel, Rebecca Treidel, Sarah Treidel, Daniel Levinson, and Nicole Levinson.Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007 at 10 a.m. from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home 88 Beach Road in Fairfield, with interment following at Beth El Cemetery on Reid Street. Shiva will be observed at the home of Alfred and Ann Treidel 22 Soundview Drive in Easton on Saturday through Wednesday.
