Eugene Mack Obituary

MACK Eugene Mack Jr., age 52, of Bridgeport, died suddenly Saturday, September 21, 2002, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport `Gene` had been a lifelong resident and attended the Bridgeport public school system. He graduated from Central High School in 1968, and during his tenure there he starred on the basketball team and composed one half of what was known as the `Dynamic Duo` along with Thom Sparks. He was a graduate of Iowa State University where he starred on their team `The Iowa Cyclones`, he also served as team captain. While at Iowa State University he pledged and became an Omega Psi Phi. Upon graduation, the former Memphis A.B.A. basketball team drafted `Gene`. He had been employed 15 years with CNB (now known as Fleet Bank), the Stamford Advocate, Cablevision and most recently by TFS, Inc. Survivors include his devoted wife, Crystal Green Mack; two sons, Eric and Christopher Mack; his mother, Lillie Sims Mack; a brother, David M. Mack (his wife Paulette), all of Bridgeport; a sister, Diane Cardoso (her husband Rafael) of Shelton; two aunts; several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held Friday at 12 noon at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 110 Grove Street, Bridgeport, with the Rev. Dietra C. Bell, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call Friday from 10 a.m. until noon at the church. Morton`s Mortuary, Inc., 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport, is in charge of arrangements.
