Florence Miejewski

MIEJEWSKI Florence Rhodes Miejewski, 86, of Trumbull, passed away June 5, 2011. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on August 2, 1924, Flo moved to Connecticut in 1942 at the age of 17, and worked at Remington Arms during World War II. After the war, she met her future husband, Mitchell Miejewski and married in 1946. While living in Bridgeport, with their daughters and son, she and Mitch built a home in Trumbull, where another son was born. The love of her four children and her home were the joys of her life. Always redecorating, she took great pride and lived out the remainder of her life in Trumbull. An avid collector of dolls, she kept busy cooking and gardening. Always working, she retired from Sikorsky Aircraft at 65. She was pre-deceased by her husband Mitchell and son Mitchell Miejewski, Jr., and is survived by her daughters, Michele Martire and husband Joe of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Sharmayne Wesler and husband Steve of Avon, son, Mark Miejewski and wife Cathy Fracker of Huntington, and a sister Rose Williams of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Florence was "Nama" to five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends can greet the family on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
