Frank Recupido Obituary

Frank Recupido
December 11, 2021
Frank Joseph Recupido, 88, of Sunrise, Florida died peacefully on Saturday, December 11th, 2021. He was the only child of the late Carmello and Jennie Recupido and the grandfather of the late Alexandru Recupido. Frank was born on March 4, 1933 in the Bronx, New York and raised in Bridgeport, CT. He is survived by son Frank E. Recupido and his life partner Shelley Bender of Guilford, son Robert Recupido and daughter-in-law Patricia of Weston, Florida, and daughter Helene Lepore and son-in-law Michael of Trumbull, CT. He is also survived by granddaughters Krista and Jessica Lepore, grandson Robert Anthony Recupido, and step-grandchildren Elizabeth, Katherine, and Johnathan Dussan.
Frank graduated from Fairfield Prep High School in 1950. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Camp Pendelton in San Diego, California and was trained as a radio operator. After discharge from the Marines, he attended Bridgeport University while employed as a draftsman at Sikorsky Aircraft. He worked his way up the Engineering ladder at Sikorsky in Stratford, CT to become a manager, and eventually held one of the top positions at the facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. He retired in 1993.
Frank had quite a zest for life! One of his many adages was "I play hard and I work hard". Oh how true. On the work side he gave it his all at Sikorsky, but on the play side is where most memories were made. As an avid golfer himself, he organized a Good Friday golf outing every year, for many years, as well as a fall Vermont golf weekend, affectionally known as the FRIGIT (Frank Recupido Inverrary Golf Invitational Tournament).
Frank loved to eat, especially steak. He once quipped "I probably ate twenty cows in my life". He appreciated a fine meal but also enjoyed a good hot dog, New Haven style pizza, and chocolate ice cream. He was a die hard New York Yankees and the New York Giants fan. He will be missed by many, most of all by his family. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at a later date.

My sincere condolences to the Recupido family. Frank worked with and played fast pitch with my dad. Had some nice boat rides on the lake in the AQ as a kid. May he rest in peace.
