Gary Bennett Obituary

Gary Bennett
Gary Bennett, a loving husband, brother, and devoted father, passed away surrounded by his family on June 7, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born in Riverside, Connecticut, on September 2, 1951, Gary was the son of the late George Bennett and Betty Smith. He grew up in the area and graduated from Greenwich High School. Gary proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
On April 10, 1976, Gary married the love of his life, Debbie Franco, in Greenwich. Together, they shared 49 years of marriage, raising two daughters and building a life rooted in love, family, and cherished memories. Gary had a special bond with all animals, particularly his pets, who were an important part of his life. His love for animals was evident in his gentle care for them, and he took great joy in the companionship they provided. Gary's support for his daughters, Kelly and Casey, knew no bounds. He was always present at their sports meets, proudly cheering them on, recording their times in his notebook, and standing by their side as their biggest fan. His presence at every event was a testament to his unwavering love and dedication to their happiness.
Gary had a distinguished career as an electrician with IBEW Local Union 488, where he worked for over 39 years. His expertise and commitment earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike. In addition to his work, Gary had a passion for outdoor activities and served as a senior instructor for the Connecticut Conservation Education and Firearms Safety Program. Gary's legacy includes his contributions to firearm safety and conservation, earning him recognition for his decades of service to the state of Connecticut. He was an avid hunter and proud member of the Fairfield County Fish and Game Protective Association, where he served as range officer.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie, his loving daughters Kelly (Rhett) Connelly and Casey (Christopher) Connolly, his twin brother Bill Bennett, and his cherished grandchildren, Kaden and Jase Connelly. His family was his greatest joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and strength.
