Gary Rosoff Obituary
Gary Rosoff, age 63 of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 after a brief illness at Yale New Haven Hospital. Gary was born in Bridgeport, a son of Stanley and Elaine Rosoff. Gary earned a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Connecticut in music education and was a music teacher at Windham High School and Fairfield Prep. For the past 20 years, Gary enjoyed driving for a car service and took pride in serving his regular passengers. Gary was a proud Eagle Scout and conducted the choir at Congregation B'nai Israel for the past two decades. Gary is survived by his mother, Elaine Rosoff; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie Rosoff and Daniel Baxter; his son, Sam Rosoff; his partner, Jennifer Goodwin; his former spouse, Ellen Rosoff; his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Ingrid Rosoff; and his sister and brother-in-law, Renee and Ronald Noren. Gary was predeceased by his father, Stanley Rosoff. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Congregation B'nai Israel, 2710 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Congregation B'nai Israel Music Fund or to Neighborhood Studios (nstudios.org).

Having been gone all summer I just learned today of gary's passing and am very sad indeed. Gary was my preferred driver at Regency then Hoyt limousine for many, many years. I wouldn't say he drove for me...he drove with me. As a limo driver one can learn many things about his passengers, by the trustworthy but unavoidable hear of them on the phone or talking with them. Gary shared in my triumphs and failures in business as well as many ups and downs with my family. He knew when to engage and when not. His words were wise and always well received and in my mind he had a rabbinical nature all the while humble, and mixed with just the right amount of comedy. My family and I all loved Gary. I will have very fond memories of our rides together.

Gary was my choir director for 2 decades. He had wonderful conducting skills, a great sense of humor, and his presence in front of our group is largely what has made singing in that choir such a fabulous experience. He will be missed. My condolences to his children and the rest of his family.

My condolences go out to Gary's family. I worked with Gary at Windham High School. I learned of Gary's death while listening to the news on our local radio station WILI in Willimantic, CT. This radio announcement shows that Gary was an important part of our community while he taught at WHS. He loved music and enthusiastically shared that love with the students and community. I remember he started Singing Valentines sung to sweethearts/friends not only within the school but also in the community. He also started Madrigal Dinners. He used music to keep some students in school. His Windham family and friends share in your sadness.
