George Dreyer Obituary

Dreyer, George H.
With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our father George Hansen Dreyer, of Shelton, on November 9, 2016. George was truly a good, kind, generous man. A quiet, charming gentleman, always dressed to perfection and distinguished for his strict integrity, dignity and wisdom. A father revered for his unwavering love and ability to coach without giving advice. He was our rock, safe harbor, our mentor and divine Poppy. George was deeply devoted to his family and Catholic faith, he entertained himself with simple pleasures: golf, sports, history, westerns, classic movies but most enjoyed the lively company of his dear friends and family. George was gifted life on December 26, 1936 through Elena (Parise) and George Dreyer of Bridgeport, CT where he grew up with his sister Joanne and many neighboring relatives. A graduate of Harding High School and the University of Bridgeport, veteran of the US Army Reserves, lifetime Bridgeport business owner recycling and trading industrial scrap metal. George is predeceased by his wife Audrey Christian Dreyer, infant son John, parents Elena and George Dreyer. Survived by his sister Joanne Brezosky, three children Jeff, Suzanne, George, their spouses, Corinne, Joe Thielen, Theresa, grandchildren Marisa, Julianne, Sydney, George, Allisa, Jaiden, great granddaughter Gianna, and many extended family members. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton on Saturday (November 12) at 10 a.m. A reception in his honor will immediately follow. Memorial contributions can be made to the Audrey Dreyer Food Bank c/o Perry Hill School 60 Perry Hill Road Shelton, CT 06484. Dear George's Family, our sincere thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. My friendship with George goes back some 70+ years as he, Armand Cantafio, Al Hronjak and I played together around Boston Avenue and Pixlee Place and our friendships grew as we progressed through Hall and Harding High Schools. These were the good old days that I cherish along with my friendship with George. I know he is in a better place and we will join him, in turn. God Bless.
