George Gulish Obituary
George Gulish, age 91 of Shelton, the beloved husband of Mary Bashar Gulish, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on February 9, 1931, to the late Michael and Helen (Kostecki) Gulish, he has been a lifelong area resident. George was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. He graduated from Harding High School, Danbury State Teachers College and went on to receive his master's degree and 6th year degree from the University of Bridgeport. He was retired from the City of Bridgeport Board of Education. George was a lifelong member of St. John's Church, where he was a member of the Choir, the Male Chorus, and the Seniors. He was also a member of the Greater Bridgeport Teachers Retirees. Survivors in addition to Mary his beloved wife of 64 years include his devoted children, Michael Gulish (Judy) of Seymour and Karen Horanzy (Tom) of Southington, four cherished grandchildren, Stephen Gulish (Kristen), Corinne Roberts (Ben), Catherine Gulish, and Mark Horanzy, as well as a great-grandson Jace Gulish, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his brothers, Michael, Peter, Joseph, and John. A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18th at 11:00 am in St. John the Baptist Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church 364 Mill Hill Ave., Bridgeport. Interment with full Military Honors will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
