George Makris Obituary

MAKRIS George Makris, age 84, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 16, 2008 at the West Haven Veterans Hospital with his family by his side. George was born on September 14, 1924 in Stratford and was the son of the late Harry and Mary Paruska Makris. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran and a self-employed Sheet-Rocker and Taper for many years. George was a former member of the Stratford Planning and Zoning Commission and a life long resident of Stratford. He is survived by three daughters, Allison Megenis of Stratford, Gigi Tuscano and her husband, Mark of Stratford, Valerie Kane and her husband, Bob of Milford; two brothers, James Makris and his wife, Sara of Stratford, Charles Makris and his wife, Loretta of Stratford; one sister, Katherine Lenihan of Stratford; two grandchildren, Alex Megenis, Tierney Kane; sister-in-law, Jane Makris of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother, Gussie Makris. The Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home 2220 Main Street Stratford has been entrusted with arrangements. im so sorry to hear the news . i used to see your dad once in awhile at short beach and the diner and around town . i always said hi and he would respond with some small talk. he will be missed. once again i am very sorry, my prayers and thoughts are with you all. signed{ b.j.} bob lambert
