George Scribano Obituary

Scribano, George C.
George C. Scribano, age 82, of Milford, formerly of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born on October 17, 1934 in New York City to the late Concetto and Josephine Iacono Scribano. He graduated from Bullard Havens Technical School in 1954, where he lettered in baseball. Proudly served in the US Army at Fort Dix in 1959. He also flew a Piper J-3 and Aeronca 7AC s. He spent his distinguished career at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford building Super Stallions and Black Hawks with multiple awards and accolades for aircraft design and efficiency, before retiring in 1994. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, along with his love for Cadillacs, bowling, golf and skiing. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife Joan Scribano. Mr. Scribano is survived by his loving wife Virginia DiCamillo Donofrio Scribano; dedicated sons Paul Scribano (Veronica) of Darien and Phil Scribano (Nancy) of Kentucky; stepson John Donofrio (Jessica Wright) of Boca Rocton, FL; stepdaughter Diana Donofrio Remmell of Easton, brother Carl Scribano of Beacon Falls; and grandchildren Stephanie, Jessica, Isabella, Allison, Joseph, Christopher, Dante, and Samuel and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 20 in Holy Infant Church in Orange at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Gate of Haven Cemetery in Trumbull.
