George Voytek Obituary
George F. Voytek, Jr., age 74, of Shelton peacefully entered into rest in his home on May 3, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Popowski) Voytek. George was born in Bridgeport on September 6, 1942, son of the late George F. Voytek Sr. and Anna (Serecha) Voytek, and lived in Shelton for close to 50 years. He worked as a leadman at Sikorsky for over 35 years before he retired. George collected and worked on model trains. He enjoyed visiting Mohegan Sun with family and friends, and loved vacationing in Cape Cod.
He is the beloved father of Jeffrey Voytek and his wife Lucia, Shari Dyer and her husband Richard, and Gary Voytek. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Carol Mihalick and Charlotte Schmecker, a niece, Jill, and two nephews, Dan and Drew. He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law James Mihalick, and Louis Schmecker.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. On Monday his funeral service will take place directly at Riverview at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Derby. Memorial contributions are requested to the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital, 130 Division Street, Derby CT 06418.
