Gerald Rice Obituary

Rice, Gerald B. Jr.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that the family of Gerald B. Rice Jr., announces his transition into eternal life on Wednesday, September 4, 2015. Gerry valiantly fought a 3 year battle with cancer. Gerry was a retired computer operator who always worked hard to provide for his family. Gerry was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, fisherman, collector of Lionel Trains, and was known to enjoy a good cigar and glass of Jack Daniels, from time to time. Gerry had a great love of music that he passed on to his children. His eclectic music palette included everything from classical music to Jazz and Motown. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and comical sense of humor. Gerry was cracking jokes and entertaining family and friends, right into his last day. Left to cherish his memory are his wife and soulmate of over 42 years, Linda Rice; his loving children; daughter, Colleen Rice McDonough and her husband Colin, of Baltic, Connecticut and son, Gerald Rice III and his fiancée Kristin Giblin, of Shelton, Connecticut. He is predeceased in death by his parents Gerald and Marion (Jost) Rice, his mother in law, Edna (Waterbury) Pavia, and sisters in law, Donna Pavia and Debra Costantini. Gerry's family would like to thank all of the incredible staff at the VA Medical Center, in West Haven and VNS Hospice of Trumbull for all the care, compassion, and support they provided to Gerry and the family. Friends are invited to attend the funeral with full Military Honors, on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 12:00 PM DIRECTLY in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport with a Mass of the Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove of Easton Cemetery, Easton. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
