Gilbert B. Brunswick
Gilbert B. Brunswick, age 84, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday October 9, 2017 in Griffin Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elsie Lois O'Donnell. He was born in Bridgeport on March 2, 1933 son of the late Martin and Germainia Brunswick and was a resident of Shelton since 1971.
Gilbert was employed at the State of CT DOT Highway and Bridges and was stationed at the Stratford Garage for 34 years before his retirement. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Sutter Terlizzi Post 16, St. Michael Catholic War Veteran, and Port 5 of Bridgeport. He was an avid fisherman, who loved to travel, collect coins, and most of all, spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved son Gil Brunswick and his wife Connie and their three sons Christopher, Jared and Sean; daughter-in-law Lynda Brunswick and her children Collin, Michael, Jr., and Lindsay; daughter-in-law Laura Paige and her children Paulie, Heather, and Jasmine; a special niece Sandra Ferro and her husband Tom; and dear friends Lucille and Lenny Savoie. He was sadly predeceased by his two sons Michael and Kenneth Brunswick and his sister Marilyn Brunswick. Gilbert's family would like to thank all the staff at Griffin Hospital for their care and support. Family and Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Mary Church, Shelton at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Hospital, 130 Division St., Derby, CT 06418. If you are unable to attend you may leave condolences online at www.riverviewfh.com.
