Grace Roman Obituary

Grace Curto Roman
Grace Roman, 82, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away with her family by her side on December 9, 2025.
Grace was born in Stamford, CT, on May 3, 1943, to the late Sam and Rosalie (Piscionieri) Curto. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1961.
Grace is survived by her husband, Orestes (of Shelton, CT); son, Thomas; daughter-In-law, Susan; and grandchildren, Matthew, Samuel, and Raeanne (of Stamford, CT); son, Todd; daughter-in-law, Courtney; grandson, Hudson (of Shelburne, VT); and daughter, Gina.
Grace: (noun) - simple beauty of movement or form.
Grace was the centerpiece of her family and friends. Her vibrancy, laughter, and love filled any room she entered. To know Grace was to be loved and embraced, enough to last a lifetime.
In Grace's later years, she and Orestes relocated to Shelton, CT. Grace's grandchildren spent many weekends at her house, where she would always have "Grammy's soup" waiting, as well as endless arts and crafts and cookies to bake. Visits to Grammy's also called for "just because" trips to Walmart for a toy, CD, or new pajamas.
Grace loved spending time with her friends, also known as her posse. Wednesdays were reserved for the girls, whether a trip to TJ Maxx, coffee or a game of Dominos. Grace loved to open her home and cook dinner for any of her grandchildren's friends. It didn't matter two or 10 friends- and they all left with a new Grammy.
She took pride and full advantage of her creative abilities. Grace painted anything in sight, and I mean anything. Her painting skills beloved by all and enjoyed gifted them to family and friends. Four cups of coffee and she was painting the crown molding on the living room ceiling while vacuuming the carpets.
There was never a Christmas where her house wasn't decorated to the finest detail and many homemade crafts.
Grace was a lover of all animals and pets, whether her frogs, bunnies, dogs and cats, as well as her grandpets and any wandering neighborhood pet that found their way to her. Although Todd moved to Vermont, that did not slow Grammy down. She was always on the go and present for her youngest grandson, Hudson. Every September, Grace and Orestes took their convertible to Oguniquit, Maine. This is where they would enjoy some peace and quiet, cruising with the top down, and take in the scenery that they both adored, the lighthouses, wildflowers, and the ocean views.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th, from 4PM to 7PM at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT. Her family will also host a committal service at the gravesite at St. John's Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave., in Darien, at 11AM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Dear Tommy & Gina & Roman Family
So sorry to read of Grace's passing, I knew Grace from years ago, she and my late wife would walk to Bloomingdale's pushing baby strollers, I have many fond memories of those days pass.
May fond memories keep her spirit with you always.......... RIP dear Grace.

To know Grace is one of the biggest gifts God could have given myself and Charlie.

She always had a smile on her face, and you could feel her radiance as soon as she entered the room.

Grace, you emulated the true definition of love for all. All of us who had you `grace“ us with your constant presence will remain forever grateful.

You taught all of us what it felt like to be loved and how to love in return, and for this I thank you. XO
