Harrison Doyle Obituary

Harrison Trask Doyle
04/09/1918 - 06/11/2017
Harrison Trask Doyle, age 99, of Stratford, beloved husband of Elsie Booth Doyle, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 in Stratford. Mr. Doyle was born April 9, 1918 in Stratford, son of the late Harrison and Mildred Doyle. Harrison attended the University of Southern California, was a retired chemical manufacture's representative and avid collector of Inuit Indian stone carvings often traveling to Eskimo villages throughout Canada to purchase this artwork from the sculptors themselves. Among other community minded projects, while living in Redding CT., he was instrumental in helping to organize the town's police department. He was an avid reader with an unusually gregarious personality. Harrison and Elsie met in their teens and became childhood sweethearts, but married other people. In their late 60's, after finding each other single again, they reunited and married. For several years they traveled extensively throughout the world, including Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Russia, as well as throughout the US and the Caribbean. Survivors include his three daughters from his previous marriage , Reverend Diana Clark and her husband Lee of Chatham, NJ, Kathy Doyle of Worcester , MA and Joanne Hubbell Doyle of Evanston, Ill ; one step-son, Bill Rock and his wife Jamie of Stratford, CT; three grandchildren, David Clark, Sarah Schwarz and Allison Bither; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Abigail and Sophie; two step-grandsons, Joel Rock and Sean Dillion; and six step-great-grandchildren, Siena, Ava , Alexander, Chance, Liam, and Oliver, plus many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service celebrated by Father Michael Jones on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford. Interment will be private. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 before the service. There will be a future celebration of Harrison's life on a date to be determined later by the Doyle family.
