Helena Kryspin

KRYSPIN Helena Kryspin, 77, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away at the St. Joseph Manor in Trumbull, CT on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. She was born in Poland on August 8, 1934 to the late Walter Gawel and Victoria (Wenglowska) Gawel. Mrs. Kryspin is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Edmund Kryspin, Sr. of Trumbull, CT; sons, Edmund Kryspin, Jr of Fairfield, Gregory Kryspin of Norwalk, Theodore Kryspin of Fairfield and daughter, Dr. Tess Kryspin of Stratford CT; and by two brothers, Steve Gawel of Stamford, CT and Joseph Gawel of Florida. She is also survived by 8 loving grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Chester of Poland and Walter of New Jersey. Helena was a member of Holy Name Rosary Society, and was named Mother of the Church in May of 1995 and was named Citizen of the Year by the Polish American World in May of 1999. She was also a longtime member of the Pulaski Parade Committee, serving as the Chairperson of the Miss Polonia contest and was the Grand Marshall for the parade in NYC. Helena came from Poland alone at age 13, as the child of an American citizen. She was joined by her family years later. She was a proud graduate of Stamford High School and worked in the Trust Department of a local bank. Helena loved to travel highlighted by realizing her dream of viewing the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena. Her family welcomes all friends and relatives TODAY, Thursday, March 15th from 4pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 16th at 11 am at the Holy Name of Jesus Church, 369 Washington Blvd, in Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John Roman Catholic Cemetery, in Darien, CT.
