Helene Sheryl Tryon
Helene S. Tryon, age 76, of Shelton, CT, formerly of Stratford, CT, passed away on July 5, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving son and cherished partner.
Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Tryon of Stratford, Helene married on September 5, 1970. They enjoyed 28 years of laughter, unconditional love and partnership.
A 1967 graduate of Bunnell high school, Helene was a lifelong resident of Stratford, CT until recently moving to Shelton. Two years before, she met the love of her life at the end of the street she lived on in two passing cars. She told her mom, "I just met a boy named Bob Tryon and someday I'm gonna marry him". So confident in her discovery, it came to its fruition five years later.
Helene was employed at a few places after high school, most notably at the old Weiner Motors on Barnum Ave. before stepping into the role that would define her life's purpose - motherhood. In June 1975, she welcomed her son, Scott, and poured herself fully into raising him with grace, strength, and unwavering love. Soon after giving birth, Bob gave her a card stating, "I knew you had it in you".
In 1985, Helene began her 25 year career working for Stratford Public Schools. She spent 8 years as a Classroom Assistant with ESOL and 17 years as a Teacher's Aid with Special Education. She brought her signature warmth, kindness and sense of humor into every classroom, leaving a lasting impact on countless children. She had the rare ability to make students feel truly seen and supported and they adored her for it.
Known to her students as Mrs. Tryon or Mrs. T, she taught at Center School, Second Hill Lane, Eli Whitney and some summer programs at Flood before retiring in 2010.
Right around this time, her and Mike Pisani's paths crossed. It was hard not to since they lived across the street from one another. The two of them found love and did a lot of traveling from Florida to Atlantic City. They attended many concerts, performances and did their share of gambling. In Mike, she found a kindred spirit and a steady presence who brought comfort and happiness to her final years.
Her greatest source of happiness, aside from her son, Scott, were her granddaughters. Helene treasured each moment she had with them, including taking them to the park, playground, the trip to NYC, Planetarium, Maritime Aquarium and supporting them in their dance performances and celebrating holidays and birthdays.
She was the kind of grandmother who showed up with open arms and an open heart always present, forever cheering them on.
An animal owner who enjoyed the company of her dogs, went above and beyond in her teaching career and loved her family, friends and whatever life had to offer.
Helene was a proud, supportive, loving and nurturing parent. A devoted, honest and humorous wife. A thoughtful sister and an adventurous, lively and sociable friend. She had a gift for making others feel at ease, and her presence brought comfort, joy, and laughter to all who knew her. No words can describe this loss.
She is survived by her beloved son, Scott Tryon and wife Alexis of Exton, PA, her two loving, treasured granddaughters, Adelaide and Evelyn; siblings Arnold Brown of Goshen, CT (Marvis Gerstein), Patrice (Kenneth) Shore of Plano, TX and Cheralyn Alderman of West Haven; sister-in-law, Joyce Tryon of Moseley, VA; her "lover", Mike Pisani of Shelton; and her lifelong friend of 57 years, Lorraine Dinsdale of Shelton.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert "Bob" Tryon, mother, Beatrice Brown, RN; father, Walter C. Brown; and brother, Jerry Brown.
Helene was incredibly brave in her battle with ALS. She took it head-on and didn't flinch.
She will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
