Herbert O. Johanson

JOHANSON Herbert O. Johanson, age 73, husband of Evelyn McManus Johanson, died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at his home in Ansonia peacefully with his wife and daughter, Kathy, by his side. He was born December 16, 1932 in Worcester, Mass., son of the late Sven Johanson and Ebba Carlson Johanson. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired printer for the S.Z. Field Co. of Bridgeport. He leaves a daughter, Kathleen Komar and her husband, Steve, of Ansonia. He was predeceased by a son, Herbert "Butch" Johanson; and a step-brother, Rodney Erickson Sr. Besides his daughter, he leaves two grandsons, Jake S. Komar and Thomas "Rex" Komar of Ansonia; and one niece and one nephew. Herbert attended Assumption Church and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Men-s Club. He was a member of the American Legion in Shelton and the Valley Heart Club. He was an assistant Boy Scout Leader and an avid deep sea fisherman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, Ansonia. Friends may call Wednesday (TODAY) from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Jenkins-King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia. Military burial services will be held in Mt. St. Peters Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude-s Children-s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude-s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
