Herbert C. Young

YOUNG Mr. Herbert C. Young, age 80 of Milford, beloved husband of Irene Swingle Young, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 25, 2009 after an 11 year battle with Parkinson's disease at Golden Hill Health Care in Milford. Born in Archbald, Pa. on February 10, 1929, he was the son of the late Edward and Lillian Simon Young. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. Herbert was a drill press operator at U.S. Baird in Stratford for 42 years before his retirement in 1994. He was the treasurer of the Wood-mont United Church of Christ for many years. Herbert was a huge fan of the NY Yankees and football Giants. His family would like to thank the staff at Golden Hill for the wonderful care that they gave Herbert for the past four years. They would also like to thank Dr.Kenneth Siegel and Sol Amor Hospice of Milford. Besides his wife Irene, his survivors include two children and their spouses, Jeannie and Steve Bump Jr. of Milford, Ron and Renee Stafursky Young of Archbald, Pa.; three cherished grandchildren, Marissa Young, Emily Bump and Meredith Bump; a sister, Lois Munley and her husband, William of Archbald, Pa.; three brothers, Edward and his wife, Dorothy of Branford, George Young and his wife, Mary Grace, Donald Young and his wife, Kay, and Harold Young, all of Archbald, Pa. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, David Young. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 29 at 11 a.m. in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. Burial to follow at Kings Highway Cemetery.
