Irene Frey

FREY Irene N. Frey, 89 of Bridgeport , passed on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at St. Vincent's Medical Center . Born in Plainfield , NJ on November 19, 1921 , Irene was the daughter of the late Harold G. Noble and Rosa Ruth (Elliott) Noble. In 1943, Irene graduated from Mary Washington College in Virginia with a BS Degree. In November of 1943, she married her long time boyfriend, Hugh Bartley Frey, Jr. and they enjoyed 64 years together. In 1944, they moved to Oak Ridge , TN and subsequently Watertown , MA ; Ridgefield , CT ; Southbridge , Ma; Winchester , MA . In 1973, they settled in Allentown , PA until Irene was widowed in 2008. Irene spent the remainder of her life close to her daughter in Watermark at 3030, Bridgeport , She enjoyed an active full life in her new community. Always a devoted wife and mother she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among her many other interest were travel, being very active in the Episcopal Church, Garden Clubs, Bowling Leagues, the American Rhododendron Society as well as an avid patron of the arts and music. Irene is survived by her loving family: daughter, Diane F. Irvine of Shelton, CT; son, Gilbert Bartley Frey and his wife Kathleen, of Wakefield, MA; son-in-law Fritz Meissner and wife Doris of Germany, grandchildren Michele McBrien and her husband Matthew of CT; Christa Bittscheidt and her husband Hans of Germany; Keely Woronick and her husband Joseph of CT; Derek Meissner and his wife Aileen of NY/Germany; Sam Frey of MA, three precious great-granddaughters Theda and Fenka Bittscheidt of Germany and Shayne McBrien of CT, as well as her siblings; Milton Noble of NY, Charles Noble of NJ and Adele Robertson of NJ, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her devoted husband "Bart", she was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Adele Meissner of Germany . A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Watermark, 3030 Park Ave. , Bridgeport , CT on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 3:00PM.
