Irene Petreycik

PETREYCIK Irene Menhart Petreycik, age 82, beloved wife of Michael Petreycik, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, passed away on January 17, 2012 in Fairfield. In addition to her devoted husband of 60 years, her memory will be embraced by her children, Richard Petreycik, and his wife, Pattilee, of Black Rock, Donald Petreycik, of Bridgeport, Kathryn Scott, and her husband, Charles, of Ridgefield, Jane Petreycik, of Black Rock; her cherished grandchildren, Caitlin Petreycik, Kyle Petreycik, and Adam Petreycik; her step grandson, George Augustyniak; one brother, Robert Menhart, and his wife, Joan, of South Carolina; many nieces and nephews; her "granddog", Kasha. A longtime member of St. Ann Church, Irene was a faithful Catholic. She enjoyed participating in parish activities, including Bible study, the Ladies Guild, Altar Society, and Eucharist ministry. Irene was proud of her Black Rock community, and would often be seen as a volunteer for neighbor events. She was a member of the Catholic War Veterans- Bower Post, as well as the Historical Society Irene liked to travel, and shared many wonderful experiences with her family and friends while visiting Bermuda, Disney, and Caribbean. A classic movie fan, reading, baking, and sewing all gave her pleasure Irene truly loved her family and friends, and will be fondly remembered by those whom she touched in life Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 7pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her funeral will take place on Monday at 915am in the funeral home, and 10am in St. Ann Church, with the burial to follow in St.John's Cemetery, Stratford.
