Iris Ruth Peretzman, age 76 of Pittsfield, MA, passed away peacefully, on Sunday November 8, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. Mrs. Peretzman was born in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Irving and Lydia Lichter, and attended Central High School. Mrs. Peretzman, who modeled as a teenager, had a love for fashion and enjoyed working at Leavitt's Department Store and Read's Department Store. Mrs. Peretzman also worked as a switchboard operator at Norwalk Community College. In August of 1955, Iris met her husband to be, Michael Peretzman, and they were married June 17, 1956. Mrs. Peretzman was a Brownie leader for her daughter's troop, a member of B'nai Birth Girls and a committee member of the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Shimshon Historical Society and became Secretary in 1971. Mrs. Peretzman actively supported and volunteered for the Democratic Party in Bridgeport, CT, and later served her local community as an elected official. All who knew her enjoyed her love of cooking, baking, fashion and entertaining. She enjoyed her visits to the casinos with her husband, Michael, and time with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Peretzman was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Michael Peretzman, in 2008, and a sister, Saundra Gail Parcharsky, in 2007. Iris is survived by a son, Marc Peretzman, of Pittsfield, MA, a daughter, Bonnie Oszmian and her husband Martin of Hancock, MA, her adored grandchildren, Jenna Oszmian of Northampton, MA, Shira Oszmian of NY, Alana Klipper and her husband David of Long Island, and her cherished great-grandsons, Jared Klipper and Ryan Klipper. Services will be held Tuesday November 10, 2015 at 12pm DIRECTLY at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery 1400 Black Rock Tpk. in Fairfield, CT. Shiva will be observed at the Oszmian residence in Hancock, MA, on Wednesday November 11, 2015 from 1-4pm.
