Rabbi Stein was amazing. I always looked up to him and enjoyed his sermons. My first memory of him was coming to Rodeph Shalom after being members of B'Nai Torah in Trumbull and meeting the Rabbi who Juggled. He was and will always be my Rabbi Z"l. May his memory always be for a blessing. Hazzan Steven Hevenstone

Roz, I'm only now hearing of the passing of our dearest Iz. So shocked and you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Words can no express how inspirational Iz was in my life as he played an instrumental role in welcoming me into the community. I was always amazed at how he remembered every name of his congregants. Somehow owed more to the depth of his caring than to his good memory. I know that the memory of Iz will be light for good in this world. He was known and loved my many including myself.

Dear Stein family,
We have warm, lovely memories of Rabbi Izzy's time at Moriah. Shortly after he arrived in Deerfield, my mother passed away, and although I was still a stranger to him, he offered me the kindest and most appropriate words of comfort. My favorite sermon of his was, "Be kind, be kind, be kind." His was a beautiful soul, and his memory will truly be a blessing.

Dear Rozzie,
Words cannot express how sad I am to hear of Izzy's passing. You know that he and I go all the way back to Camp Ramah in CT. And,of course, you and I are friends since Stern College.

To Roz and Family, I feel so blessed and honored to have met Rabbi Stein, you and your family. It was a special treat to see the Rabbi each morning while working at the Inwood Lobby. I will miss his smile and the chocolate he would slip to me occasionally as he was going out. My condolences to you and your family.

Dear Roz and family,
So sorry to learn that Izzy passed away. Izzy and I became friends going through Trinity together. It was so nice to chat again with Izzy after he led the Jewish prayer not long ago at our 55th reunion. We will all miss him.

Dear Roz, Jeremy, Jay, Eli and Seth and family
I don't even know where to begin. I am so sad. Izzy was such as huge part of my life growing up (and he knew more about my family history than I did). I'm so glad he was there to marry my husband Michael and me and we remember the night we met with him the eve before Sept 11th happened and we talked about how important relationships and love was even if things were bad. I'll always remember many family gatherings and New Years eves going back to when I was a kid, including entertaining days at my parents house when Izzy would juggle for us. I am so glad for the memories and photos I have. He will always be cherished.

To the Stein Family, our deepest sympathy. Rabbi Stein officiated at the Bar Mitzvah of our son & Bat Mitzvah of our daughter. He traveled to NJ on Father's Day to officiate at the wedding of our son 10 years ago. A dedicated & inspirational Rabbi who will be truly missed!

I'm just learning of Izzy's passing. Growing up, he was a frequent visitor at our home in Plainville. My late brother Barney and Izzy were students together at Trinity College. A dozen or so years later, Rabbi Izzy married Fred and me at Bayside Hills Jewish Center in Queens. Fifteen years later, he remarried us in our home surrounded by family and friends. Rabbi Izzy was a unique, independent, creative, compassionate, learned and inspiring man and great friend and will be sorely missed. RIP dear friend, your memory will certainly be for a blessing. Baruch Dayan Emet and give my brother a hug!

We add our deepest condolences, Roz, to those so beautifully expressed here. Rabbi Stein's and your presence during his time at Moriah was a treasure. The world is a little less bright today, but what a legacy! May his memory always be for a blessing and may you and your family be comforted with the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

To Roz and the Boys,
A mensch of the first order has left us. The world is a lesser place without him.
But as Izzie once said in condolence to my late Father-in-Law, Sam, after losing his beloved Lillian,
"Someone wants her more".

We are so sorry to hear of Rabbi Stein's passing. He was so special to us.
Rabbi Stein married us and named both our children. He was always an inspiration to me, growing up and well into adulthood an I have always had a special place in my heart for Izzy.
I met him first, when my father passed away in 1981, and his words and good counsel had a tremendous affect on me. This was particularly true during the time I was saying Kaddish for my dad at the synagogue.
Izzy always loved to hear me sing, and was so happy when David Srebnick and I led High Holiday services. He always made a point of sharing that with me.
Over the years, I stayed in touch with Izzy, especially if there was something that I needed to discuss with him, or if I needed the occasional "spiritual" guidance I did not find with our local rabbis in Boston.
Every year around the Yom Tovim, I would call and check in with him. My husband Fred and I will miss him so much.
We offer our deepest condolences to his wife Roz, and all their children and grandchildren.
We hope and pray that the many wonderful memories his family has of their life with him, sustain them in the many difficult days and months ahead.
May his memory be for a blessing.

Rabbi Stein (and his dear Roz) are so special. We were congregants at Moriah during both of his terms there. He was a remarkably caring rabbi and someone we thoroughly enjoyed. I still remember several of his sermons during his terms, and they were very impactful. We were so sad to hear this news. Love to the family from Chicago. Bobbi & Jeff Kwall

Dear Roz and Family,
Our hearts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. You and Izzy were close friends during our time at WHS, and we are so sorry that circumstances prevented us from being with you today. Izzy was a true mensch and a most scholarly one at that. Everyone whose lives he touched share your loss.
May his memory forever remain a blessing, and may he rest in peace.
