To the entire Fugal Family and Office; As most of you already Dr. Fugal meant the world to us. He took care of our first daughter(as he called Dawnie for 40yrs) stitching her(of course without his glasses), all her childhood sicknesses, even through college. He took care of our son through the years, including his many sports injuries on and off the field. He took care of our two grandchildren with his love and concern. We are thankful the suffering is over; we will miss Doc and love him forever, Diana and Dick

My heart goes out to the family of the GREAT Dr. Fugal (Dr.FU FU to me when I was younger)! I have such wonderful memories of him and East Shore Ped.! It was ALWAYS worth the 2 hour waiting time to see him, we would pack a lunch or walk to the store down the street(GOOD TIMES). He started caring for me when I was born in 1982, then I had 2 children in 2000 & 2006 and he cared for them! Even after the age of 18 he would take care of me when I was there for my child, now I am 28 and can't find another doctor like him. I was very nervous about moving, not knowing if I would EVER find another Ped. like him! I find myself always comparing the doctors in GA to him. Evan after I moved I would call up there and either Phoebe or Dr. Fugal would tell me what was wrong and what to do, and I knew everything would be alright. There wil NEVER be another Dr. Fugal!! GOD BLESS THE ENTIRE FAMILY YOU WILL BE IN OUR PRAYERS!!
What a comfort you have been to God

Dear Nancy and Family: Please accept our deepest sympathies to you and yours. You shared Jan with us all these years and we are all better for knowing him. He was a wonderful doctor, employer, friend, confidant and a wonderful tease. We will miss him and thank you for sharing him with all of us. I can't help thinking that somewhere he is rewiring a lamp, fixing a radio, playing the drums/trombone and looking down at us with that knowing smile. From Charly,Tim,Timmy,AJ and Robin-oooch Grivalsky. Our prayers are with you.

Dr. Fugal was on duty the night our son was born. He spent two hours examining him, talking to us, and without making it obvious, reassuring us about his health and our ability to succeed as new parents. We never saw him again. But that one meeting was enough to tell us what kind of man he was, and we will not forget him. Thank you, Dr. Fugal.

I loved Dr. Fugal so much. He was the greatest. When my son was born 19 years ago, he came to the hospital and we talked for three hours. I thought it was 7am and when he left I realized it was 3am. He took care of my two children and even though we live in the valley, 45 minutes away, I never considered getting another doctor. He always knew what was wrong when we were sick and always took care of us and the long wait was always worth it. He can never be replaced and I will miss him for the rest of my life. Rest in peace Dr. Fugal.

How blessed the children he cared for are, they were given childhood memories of Dr. Fugal.
Dr. Fugal's office was always a waiting room filled with kids, playing with toys, traveling up and down the hallway, and into treatment rooms.
They were all treated as part of the Fugal family, they were home, and he would make everything better.
He cared for my children, starting as babies and handed them High School diploma's at graduation.
Along with their cousin's they share many wonderful "Dr.Fugal stories."
Thank-You Dr. Fugal for the years of compassion and care of all of us. You have earned thoses wings.
Our hearts and prayers are with your family.

Dr. Fugal will be missed by every person he touched with his caring hands over the course of all these years. I never met a more compassionate and loving doctor, he was one of a kind for sure. He went above and beyond many times for me and my family and we apprecitated him so much. He is at peace now and I pray for those he left behind.

His generous spirit will be missed! However, his spirit will go on through every hand he held, be it the sick child or the flustered parent. In my case it will be of the uninsured young adult that needed patching up (that I once was). Thank you Dr. Fugal for all your Tender Loving Care!

Jan was a great doctor. I can't tell you how much he helped my children and family during our years of dealing with him. He always listened and cared for "all" of his kids. He was a pleasure to talk to and be around. He was always in a good mood regardless of his hectic day and screaming kids he had to deal with on a daily basis. He will be missed great. Our sincere condolences to Nancy, his family and the staff at East Shore Ped.

We are all saddened by the loss of Dr Fugal or The God of medicine as my boys called him. Our older son woke up very ill one day @ the age of 2 took him to two E.R.s and no one new what was wrong. Dr.Fugal was not my pediatrician at the time, but the pediatrician of a friend. I called his office spoke to Gail. Dr Fugal got right on the phone I explained the symptoms and he new exactly what was wrong with Scott. He saw us right away. that is after our two hour wait. But the wait never bothered us, as we new our boys would be better when the saw Dr Fugal. My boys where the adventures type. How many times Scott and Matt had broken bones, needed stitches etc.. What ever the time of day or night he was there. I think I let my boys explore more because I new what ever happen Dr. Fugal was there. When my son enlisted in the Marines Corp I was terrified I talked to Dr Fugal , he made me feel better. When the war in Iraq started I had not seen Dr. Fugal in 6 months, but he called out of the blue to see how I was holding up because he sensed that Scott was @ war and he was. When my husband had a heart attack he was there. He was @ the ER for something else saw the name and made a point of stopping and checking in on us. He assured be everything was going to be fine. Even when it was something he could not do, he found you the the Doctor who could fix it and kept a very close eye to be sure ever thing went well. All the sx Matt had on his various broken bones, he always called to see how things where going. I could go on and on but we will never ever find a Doctor or kind humane being like Dr. Fugal and do not forget Phoebe she is the best!
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Dr.Fugal was not just a doctor to his patients, he was a source of strength, support and reassurance to parents as well. He served first myself as a child and then my children. As I contemplate finding a new pediatrician, I am suddenly struck with great emotion because I know that I will never find one with the heart and caring that Dr. Fugal had. He and his staff got me through many tough times and for that I will always be grateful. The world just lost a one-in-a-million doctor and a one-in-a-million man. The Walters/Gallipoli Family will miss you, Doc.

So sorry to hear this! My heart breaks as this comes exactly 13 years after my favorite memory of him. He sat up with me till 2am the night before his family reunion (July 4th) because my daughter was born with cleft lip and palate and I was terrified of bringing her home the next day. He would not leave my side until I was sure I could handle it. For years I drove close to 40 miles just to bring my kids to him and only stopped because we moved even farther away. He was such a loving man and Im sure he will be greatly missed!

When I had my son, which was on his birthday, Dr. Fugal was on his home to celebrate with his family when he poked his head in my delivery room. My son was 10 weeks premature and I didn't yet have a pediatrician. He quickly took over, literally saved his life and just about held my hand through the difficult NICU weeks. I don't know if he ever made it home that night. I had two more children and he was at my side each time and he took care of them like they were his own. He truly was a one of kind. Noone will ever have a better, kinder, more compassionate doctor than him. Our whole family is so saddened by his passing. It's a shame future generations will never know him or his wonderfully funny and caring heart. Heaven is defineately happier having him as an Angel.

We offer our deepest condolences to Dr. Fugal's family. I doubt my family will ever find a doctor so deticated to his patients. My son Ayden was very sick when he was born and I owe everything to Dr. Fugal for nursing him back to health. I was the 1st time mom who made the 3:00am frantic phone calls and Dr.Fugal not only helped me but called me back numerous times throughout the night to check on my son. He always reassured my husband and I that we were great parents and to stop second guessing ourselves. I feel it an honor to have known such a great man. You will forever be in my heart and I will make sure, when my son is old enough, to pass on all the stories and loving memories of Dr. Fugal.

Not many night shift nurses see physicians around regularly, unless it is an emergency- Dr. Fugal came in to see his newest patients at very late hours, and had a captive audience in both his new moms, and obstetrical nurses- he was always ready to talk, joke, teach,& reassure-he never seemed rushed to go home/sleep. For his family, thanks for sharing him- he was the personification of what we wish doctors could be- full of knowledge, but even more important, full of caring. He lent me humane traps many years ago, to catch some feral cats- his generosity extended to all life it seems- I have been gone from Milford Hospital for a while now, but the late nights listening to him counsel uneasy moms remains a special memory. He is undoubtedly sitting at the Right hand of God today.

Words can not express how much it meant to have Dr. Fugal to turn to when my son was sick. He took excellent care of us and always knew what to do. He also knew how to make us laugh! He took time with each and every patient and you don't see that anymore. We enjoyed many good conversations. Such an interesting, intelligent, kind and wonderful man who will be greatly missed!

What a great old fashion doctor he was. We all love him. He gave my son Spencer Luthy his first sports physical and told him he had the top 10% of good blood for his age in the country. He always tease the kids. Your a girl to Spencer and the same for Kyle Luthy. Spencer today is a healthy active 21 year old who gives blood to the red cross often.Kyle is a healthy 17 year old.He was Kyle's Dr. after a long illness as a baby. When my daughter Brittany Luthy now 16,was born he spent over an hour just talking to me about girls vs boys.lol. What doctor does this today? Every time we past his office . in Milford, the kids always remember him being their chidhood dr. God Bless! and Rest In Peace Dr. Fugal. We love you and we all will miss you being here.
