Janet Varone of Stratford, CT passed away at the hospice in Bridgeport Hospital on December 11, 2016. She was born in March 1928, the daughter of the late Dr. Kent T. Royal and Lila Jane Royal of North Brookfield, Mass. She was a graduate of Colby College, Maine. She was working in Boston, Mass. where she met and married her husband of 63 years, Anthony Varone, while he was attending law school. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Diane Cascella and her husband Tom of Forest Hills, MD, Peter Varone and his significant other Dawn Biondi of West Haven, CT and Pamela Rogalin and her husband Paul of Shelton, CT, six grandchildren, Kristen and Amanda Cascella, Michael and Mary Varone, Emily and Gregory Rogalin, one great grandchild, Brynnly, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Betty Ann Spiegel and one grandchild, Kimberly Cascella. She loved to play the piano and sing, volunteering at St. Joseph's Manor for many years playing the piano at weekly sing alongs. She also sang in some local singing groups including the Harmonettes and performing in the resident's musical productions at Oronoque Village where she resided. She could sing the lyrics of so many old time favorites. She was fond of her lineage from Colonial America and that her father, grandfather and great grandfather were all country doctors in Mass. Friends and relatives may greet the family on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
