Jean was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Sulphur Springs to Dudley C. Jernigin and Neva Nell Wester Jernigin. She grew up in Fort Worth where she graduated from Paschal High School and TCU. In 1951, she married Frank L. Poulsen and they had two children, Loren and John. Later, Jean taught in the Fort Worth public school system for many years. She married Howard D. Rector in 1975 and they enjoyed 36 wonderful years together until his death. Jean was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church but faithfully attended University Christian Church with Howard, who was a longtime member there. A creative and very artistic person, Jean had a beautiful home and was a wonderful cook and hostess. She was an active member of the Monday Book Club, a member club of the Fort Worth Woman's Club. She was a past president of the Monday Book Club and was known for her insightful and witty book reviews. Her beloved grandchildren loved their "Mimi" and spent many happy times in her home. The family is grateful for devoted caretakers Margaret and Alma for their love and care of both Jean and Howard. Survivors: Daughter, Loren Frazer Poulsen; son, John Dudley Poulsen and wife, Mary Ann; beloved grandchildren, Frank and Elizabeth Poulsen; Howard's daughters, Rosemary Rector and husband, Herb Weisblatt, and Robin Rector and husband, Richard Garcia; sister, Nell Reeder Branch and husband, James O. As they were growing up, Jean always asked about my sons in a kind and genuine way. I will never forget her sparkly eyes.
