Jeanette Macdonald Obituary

MACDONALD Jeanette Crane Macdonald, age 84 of Old Say-brook, beloved wife of Robert Macdonald, 59 years married, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born April 3, 1924 in Ivoryton, daughter of the late Harold and Zypha (Wilcox) Crane, Jeanette was raised in Groton and Ivoryton. She was a 1942 graduate of Fitch High School in Groton. She had lived in Fairfield from 1956 to 1991 before moving to Old Saybrook in 1991. Jeanette was a member of the Fairfield Grace Methodist Church in Fairfield and the Rebecca Circle. She was a former Girl Scout leader, a member of the Audubon Society, a volunteer at the Mill River Nature Center, a 25 year member of the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, a member of the Sound Steppers Square Dance Club and the Fairfield Square Dance Club. Jeanette's many interests were her love of nature and gardening, quilting, hiking, reading, painting, sailing, woodworking, cross country skiing, and she loved traveling to Maine. Jeanette is survived by her loving family, a son, James R. Macdonald of Burnham, Maine; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen Crane Macdonald and Geno Piacentini of Bridgeport; a sister, Frances Ross of Florida; three grandchildren, Ian J. Macdonald and Jeannette R. Macdonald, both of Burnham, Maine and Kenneth A. and grand-daughter-in-law, Jessica Macdonald Jr. of Middletown; great-grandson, Tristan R. Macdonald; and also several nieces and nephews. Jeanette was predeceased by a son, Kenneth A. Macdonald Sr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Robinson, Wright and Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook. Burial will be in the family plot in Centerbrook Cemetery, Cen-terbrook. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Forest and Park Association at www.ctwoodlands.org.

To the Macdonald Family,
Growing up on Wilton road, I always remember Jeanette coming over and having tea with my mom.(Ethel) They were great friends.
