Joan Malone Obituary
Joan Barbara (Rice) Malone, age 88, of Fort Pierce Florida, beloved wife of the late Walter J. Malone Jr., passed away May 27, 2022, peacefully at home after a brief illness. Joan was born on August 14, 1933, daughter of the late Harold and Marie (O'Brien) Rice. Joan raised her children in Stratford, CT before moving to North Branford, CT and finally settling in Fort Pierce, FL where she spent the last 5 ½ years.
She enjoyed trips to the casino and especially loved her vacations in Las Vegas. Joan was an avid reader and loved baking. Survivors include her five children, Steven Malone and his wife Terry, Diane Spinato and her husband John, Lynn Semlow and her husband Ray, Patricia Urquidi, Denise Schilling and her husband Michael; 11 grandchildren, Katie, Sara, Stephanie, Daniel, Joseph, Michael, Andrew, Thomas, Jake, Jimmy and Jeffrey; and 4 great-grandchildren, Carter, Finley, Isabella and Archer. Joan is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Mark Malone; and grandson, Nick Detuzzi.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on August 13, at 11:00 AM, at St. Marks Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, CT 06614. In lieu of flowers, those who desire may contribute in Joan's memory to the charity of their choosing.
