Joanna Katherine Smith, age 34, of Stratford, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 10, 2022. Born in Chicago, Illinois on April 20, 1988, she was the daughter of Katherine Grabot Smith of Stratford and Gregory S. Smith and stepmother Donna M. Smith of Fairfield.
Joanna graduated from Staples High School, Class of 2006, and moved to Brazil for eight months before coming home to begin her many years of work in the hospitality industry. She had a passion for fitness, nutrition and exercise and enjoyed being outdoors. She was a lover of all animals, an avid reader, a movie buff and a Harry Potter aficionado. One of her favorite things to do was to spend time at the beach and hanging out with her canine companion, Romie. She was a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her beloved parents, survivors include a brother, Matthew S. Smith of Norwalk, a sister, Jennifer M. Smith and her boyfriend, Rodolfo Antorcha of Washington, DC and a maternal grandmother, Sally Grabot.
Joey was a fun, kind, loving, intelligent light in the family and to all who knew her. She even took on the annual role of Christmas Elf to hand out presents. Joey was also the tech advisor of the family, helping fix, set up, and explain any tech issues that would arise. She was affectionally named "Speedy Smith" in her 4th grade class, so of course, this meant we gave her all our errands, which she took on happily. Joey was well loved by family, friends, and coworkers and we will miss her dearly.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd., Fairfield. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Human Fund.
