John Anton Obituary

ANTON Mr. John R. Anton Sr., age 73, beloved husband of the late Marie Poulsen Anton of Milford, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Westport Health Care Center. Son of the late William F. and Helen Buckingham Anton, he was born on December 26, 1932 in Bridgeport. He was an aviation flight mechanic with U.S Navy and served during the Korean War. Mr. Anton was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years before his retirement in 1988 and continued working for 10 years at Connecticut Drive Shaft. He was a member of Milford Elks Club, Devon Old Timers, former member of the Knights of Columbus, Tinto Council 47 and was active for many years in Milford Recreation (Fast and Slow Ball) Softball League. Mr. Anton is survived by a son, Jim F. Anton and his wife, Roberta; two grandchildren, Darcy and Ryan; a sister, Mary Ellen Townsend of Florida; and also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, John R. Anton Jr.; and a brother, William F. Anton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 29, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Milford. Interment to follow in King's Highway Cemetery, Milford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford. Memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
