John D'Aiuto Obituary

D‚AIUTO John R. D‚Aiuto, age 93, of Derby, entered into rest on Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of Rose Grillo D‚Aiuto. Mr. D‚Aiuto was born in Derby, on March 6, 1911, son of the late Antonio and Theresa O‚Ricchio D‚Aiuto. Mr. D‚Aiuto was in charge of international shipping for W.E. Bassett Co. until his retirement in 1976. He was previously employed by the former Derby Savings Bank for more than 20 years. Mr. D‚Aiuto was the Republican Registrar of Voters for more than 20 years and was a lifeguard and swimming instructor for the Recreation Camp in Derby. Mr. D‚Aiuto was a member of St. Mary‚s and St. Jude‚s Church, and a member of St. Mary‚s Catholic Men‚s Club. He was the loving father of Jack D‚Aiuto of Derby, and Theresa D‚Aiuto Andrasy and her husband, Gabor, of Holiday, Fla.; brother of Louis D‚Aiuto of Derby, Anthony D‚Aiuto of Shelton, and the late William D‚Aiuto, Josephine D‚Aiuto and Helen Brothers. He was the loving grandfather of Anthony and Christopher D‚Aiuto, and the late Wendy VanDijk. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His funeral will leave the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Jude‚s Church. His entombment will be in Mount St. Peter‚s Garden Mausoleum. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to: Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405, or St. Jude‚s Church, 71 Pleasant View Road, Derby, CT 06418.
