John D'Angelo Obituary

John T. (Jack) D'Angelo, Jr.
John T. D'Angelo, Jr. (Jack), of Trumbull, CT, passed away on September 8, 2024, after a very courageous battle. Jack was a loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather, uncle and all-around wonderful friend known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, integrity, and generosity. He was fun loving, with a great sense of humor. Jack is a true family man and would do anything to help and care for his family. Jack was born on November 10, 1953, in Waterbury, Connecticut. He was the son of the late John T. D'Angelo Sr. and Eleanor (Cashman) D'Angelo. Jack was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and received his Bachelor's from Central Connecticut State University where he met his wife, Donna, of 48 years, whom he loved with all his heart and soul. He also held a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Bridgeport. Jack built a successful career in insurance and benefits at CG and GTE. Jack served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Verizon for many years, leaving a positive impact on everyone he worked with. Following his retirement from Verizon, Jack was a consultant for the Knights of Columbus and professor at Manhattanville College MBA program, eager to share his passion and knowledge of the work he did. Jack served as a reader at church for over 50 years, first in Medfield, Massachusetts and then St. Catherine of Siena, in Trumbull. In his spare time, Jack was an avid racquetball player, enjoying his time with his racquetball buddies and his Friday morning breakfast club. Jack was always ready to plan, thoroughly research and attend any trip or vacation and give thoughtful suggestions to anything needed. He enjoyed working in his yard and on his lawn with his tractor. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Donna D'Angelo, his children, Lynn D'Angelo, Sherry Crosby and his son-in-law, Jonathan Crosby. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caitlin, Andrew, and Ryan, who were the light of his life. He was lovingly known as "Papa" to his cherished grandchildren, and with whom he created lasting memories. Jack especially enjoyed vacations and holidays with his whole family, particularly the trips to Cape Cod, a beloved tradition that continued every year. He treasured his time with his grandchildren, caring for them daily with Donna. He was one of their biggest cheerleaders and loved watching them play baseball, hockey, basketball and dance. He also loved taking a walk to get ice cream, apple picking, riding roller coasters, taking trips to the zoo, and seeing movies. When he was not with his grandkids, he loved going out to eat with Donna and spending time with friends. He is survived by his brother-in-law Robert Stanko, mother-in law, Mary Stanko, nephews Jay M. D'Angelo, Joey Musante (Victoria), niece Candace Grayson (Lee), his longtime friends Denis Sullivan, Bruce Taylor, Phill White and Rich Caporaso, as well as many aunts and cousins. Jack is preceded in death by his infant daughter, his brother Jay A. D'Angelo, and his father-in-law Arthur J. Stanko. Jack's legacy of love, respect and kindness will live on through his family. He celebrated each joy and accomplishment of his family, guiding and encouraging them through hard times. He handled everything that came his way with poise, strength, and love. He loved life and wants everyone to enjoy the time they have together, hug their loved ones, and celebrate his life. We will miss him forever.
