John F. DiMatteo
John F. DiMatteo, age 87, of Milford, beloved husband of Violet D'Amico for 58 years, entered peaceful rest on February 3, 2024. John was born in Bridgeport on August 20,1936 to the late Louis and Muriel Watkyns DiMatteo. He received his BS degree from the University of Bridgeport before serving in the US Army in Germany. John began his corporate accounting career at Remington Shavers and retired as an Assistant Comptroller for Dresser Industries. He enjoyed watching Yankees games, coached Junior Major Baseball and was an avid league bowler. His love for working in the yard was unmatched and mowing the lawn made him VERY happy. John loved his family deeply, and he is the best man we have ever known. In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, he leaves behind his children, Michael J. DiMatteo of Milford and David J. DiMatteo (Erica) of Stratford. One special granddaughter, Brooklyn DiMatteo who lovingly called him "Papa." Brother Robert L. DiMatteo (Carol) of Bethel. John is also survived by his caring sister-in-law Eleanor Andrechak of Shelton and brother-in-law Daniel D'Amico of Vermont as well as several nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his brother Louis DiMatteo and brother-in-law, Robert Andrechak. Friends and family may call on Monday, February 12th from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in The GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following the calling hours at 11:00 a.m. in Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Road, Milford. Such a caring man, always smiling and enjoying being with those around him. John's sense of humor was welcomed by everyone. It was always a pleasure being around John and we will miss him very much. Thank you John for being in our lives. We will remember you with love.
