John Dolan Obituary

DOLAN John T. Dolan, Jr., age 81 of Fairfield and formerly of Stamford, the beloved husband of Nancy Lucas Dolan, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 in the presence of his loving family. Born in Chattanooga, TN to the late John T. Dolan, Sr. and Alma Coyle Dolan, he was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran. John worked for US Pipe, Olin Corp., LCP Corp., and was founder and owner of Shamrock Industries Inc. He was an avid sports enthusiast, playing high school football, and he sponsored various local intramural sports teams. In 1998, John was a proud recipient of a heart transplant at the Temple University Heart Center. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sister, Mary Jo Downs and her husband, Melvin of Chattanooga; four sons and their spouses, Tom and Patty of Stamford, James Edward and Doreen of Hope Valley, RI, Tim and Eileen of Stamford, Pat and Amy of Oxford; as well as five daughters and their spouses, Carol and Jim Ashbrook of Monroe, Sarah and Jerry Zilske of Alpharetta, GA, Nancy and Bruce Beobide of Yorktown, NY, Martha and Anthony Centopanti of Fairfield, and Suzanne Clark and her fianc�, Stanley Slosek of Gloversville, NY. He will be dearly missed by his 26 grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and another great grandson on the way; as well his nieces and nephews; and the many other lives he has touched. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Pius X Church in Fairfield. Interment will be private. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, October 7th from 5-8 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center. So sorry to hear of the loss of "Johnny" Dolan. Mr. Dolan was such a positive fixture at our football games in HS and they are terrifically fond memories that will always stay with me. I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Dolan. I smile everytime I think of him. I remember how he called out "you pepper!" when we played softball. You all are in my heart and prayers. I love you all.
