UNCLE SLIM

Lyrics by Dean Brantley Taylor

VERSE 1
He guarded Ike in World War II
He’d always share a story with you
Though his Earth days have come to end
He’s still our very, very best friend

CHORUS
Our Uncle Slim was a giant of a man
A big hearty laugh and big old hands
He played the game in the early days
He shot the ball in just the right way

VERSE 2
He loved to watch a John Wayne flick
He loved his family. His life was rich
Though his days on Earth are now gone
He’s still in our hearts and in this song

CHORUS
Our Uncle Slim was a giant of a man
A big hearty laugh and big old hands
He played the game in the early days
He hit the ball in just the right way

ENDING
Though his days on Earth are now gone
He’s in Lydia’s heart and in her song
He’s in Linda’s heart. She sings his song
And he’s in my heart, as I sing this song

END

May your family find comfort in happy memories at this sad time. I worked with John at Remington in the days when coworkers were like family. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Lydia & Linda,

John and my Dad started out as "roommates" from which a very special friendship developed. My Dad holds a special place in his heart for John. He will be sadly missed.
Our prayers are with you.

Dear Uncle Slim, we are all going to miss you so much...I used to love coming in from work and seeing you sitting at our kitchen table w/Aunty Lydia and mom and dad, laughing or complaining w/my dad about the way things are in this world...You are now in heaven, looking down on your loving wife and daughter and having them know, that as in life, you are watching over them both.
All my love and prayers,
Dee and Mike
