John Lynch Obituary

John "Jack" Edward Lynch
John "Jack" Edward Lynch, born May 20, 1946, died peacefully with his beloved family by his side on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in Bridgeport, CT. He was a warrior in his battle with cancer, fortunate to have stayed ahead of it for decades. He cherished life; he lived it ambitiously, and with intention, always in service to others, for 76 years. Being a patriarch was his great pride and joy, and he loved nothing more than family time in any shape or form. But in no way did the reserve dry up there! His legacy is profound in terms of the thousands of lives he positively impacted over the course of his career spanning fifty years as an educator and administrator in Bridgeport, Newtown, Fairfield, and Stratford Public Schools. He retired and had a big celebration…but he couldn't stay away. He ended his career as the Principal at Saint James in Stratford, a 7-year role he cherished. Mr. Lynch, you're going down in history as one of the most loved school principals to walk the halls, ever.
Jack was predeceased by his mother, Eileen (Mulvoy) Lynch and father, John J. Lynch. He is survived by so much love it's blazing bright from: his former wife, Patty Cardone Lynch; his children, Jack M. (Nell) Lynch, Kate (Dave) Lynch Schneider, Matthew (Loren Ambrose) Lynch, and Megan (Joe) Lynch Patzelt; his grandchildren, Jack F., Brady, Mary, Ellie, Charlie, Joey and Mae; sister, Eileen Lynch O'Connor; nephew Tim (Kim) O'Connor; nephews who he treated like sons, Keith and Scott Morrison; and many more Lynch and Cardone family members.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30am meeting directly in St. James Church, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Tuesday 3-8pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. James School, 50 Harvey Pl., Stratford, CT 06615 c/o the Jack E. Lynch Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mr. Lynch, my daughter began kindergarten at St. James in Sept. 2017. Right away we clicked. After a handful of conversations and he realized that I work in law enforcement, that was it!! From that moment on I was greeted with a hug (pre-covid) and greeted with a smile and an air hug after covid, it was as if he saw me as family after that. Rain or shine outside smiling & greeting the students in the morning and outside smiling and waving at dismissal time in the afternoon. I vividly remember the day I caught him outside at the end of the 2020 school year & he broke the news to me that he was retiring to spend more time with his family, especially the grandkids. He was so excited. Stern and firm when necessary but a gentle giant at the same time. Take your rest now, job well done, faithful & humble servant of God. Forever loved by family, students, teachers, staff and parents.

Mr. Lynch! You were an amazing man! You always went out of your way one way or another! I had issues with getting my daughter to school and making my 7:31 train and every morning Mr. Lynch would open that gym door by 7:20! Rain or shine! And if he was a few minutes late he would apologize as if I was doing him a favor and not the other way around! That little gesture meant the world to me and I would forever be grateful to him for that! I stopped by and said my goodbyes tonight! Jack you will be missed!
