John Ondecko Obituary

ONDECKO John J. Ondecko, age 81, of Trumbull, a retired maintenance foreman for the Jenkins Valve Co. died on Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Czechoslovakia, Mr. Ondecko was a Trumbull resident over 50 years. During World War II, he served in the 33rd Naval Construction Battalion and received a Presidential Citation for extraordinary heroism in action at Peleliu and Ngesebus in the Western Pacific. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Clara Rozycki Ondecko; a daughter, Barbara Pezzullo and her husband, John of Trumbull; a brother, Edward Ondecko of Stratford; two sisters, Marge Dzubak of Danbury and Ann True of Wisconsin; his devoted caregiver, Anna Dyrdul; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery Pilgrimage Mausoleum, Bridgeport. Friends may call Saturday morning, after 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to a scholarship fund that will be established at St. Joseph High School, through the funeral director.
