John Rivers Obituary

RIVERS John H. Rivers, age 82, of Derby, beloved husband of Mary Puskar Rivers, passed away on Saturday February 27, 2010 in Griffin Hospital. Mr. Rivers, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army was born in Bridgeport to the late Walter and Rose (Lewis) Rivers and has been a long time area resident. He was retired after 36 years from the Post Publishing Company, and was and avid fisherman. Survivors in addition to his wife, include his beloved daughters, Nancy Monelli and her husband Alan of Bethany and Sharon Cavallaro and her husband Peter of Ohio; three cherished grandchildren, Anthony and Nicholas Monelli and Deanna Cavallaro; a sister, Rose Kempton and her husband George of Milford and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Walter, James and Thomas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 3rd at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church 81 Center Road (Rt. 114) Woodbridge. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 yo 7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
