Joseph Benton Obituary

BENTON Joseph Benton, age 22, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 27, 2003. He was born on August 16, 1982, to Freddie Lee Belin Jr. and Vicki Benton. He had been a lifetime resident of the city. In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory are one brother, Johnny Tavon Daniels; two sisters, LaToya Benton and Monique Benton; one stepsister, Antowne Crawford; maternal great-grandmothers, Virginia Benton and Bertha Harris; paternal grandparents, Freddie Sr. and Nettie Belin; special companion, Tamesha Fuller; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at noon, at the funeral home. Eldress Deborah Vereen will officiate. Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment immediately following service in Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport. Arrangements entrusted to the George J. Peterson Funeral Home, 1041 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport.

Joe -Joe every since we met, in the 7th grade, we shared alot of memories, some good and some bad but through it all, you were a friend. I always prayed that one day God would show you the right path, but never did I imagine it would come so soon, or this way. The only thing I can say is I'll never forget you and will forever cherish our friendship. R.I.P

Though I never met JoJo, I feel that I've known him for several years. His brother, John, who is very close to my children, always mentioned him. John cared a great deal for him and was concerned for his well-being.

Condolences to the family and especially John. We've lost yet another son. I pray we lose no more.
