Joseph Rudolph Rosetti

Joseph Rudolph Rosetti, 91, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at Norwalk Hospital. Born on November 26, 1933, in Jessup, Pennsylvania, to Italian immigrants Guiseppe Rosetti and Margaret Ferranti, he was the fourth of five children.
Mr. Rosetti lived in Jessup and attended school there until 1949, when the family moved to South Canaan, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Waymart High School in 1951 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University) in 1955. While attending Pennsylvania Military College, he played on the 1954 winning football team that never suffered a defeat or even a tie game, a first in the College's history.
In 1955, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the US Army, 2nd Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Division, and was deployed to Korea in 1956. Before his deployment he married Marlene Josephine Stearns in 1955; the couple's marriage ended in 1976. They had four children together.
Following his military service, he worked as the chief accountant for Marriott and later received a master's degree in Commercial Science from Southeastern University.
From 1960 to 1968, Mr. Rosetti served as a Special Agent in the Intelligence Division of the U.S. Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service, later becoming a Group Supervisor and Special Assistant to the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance. Notably, as a chief investigator for the Treasury Department, he was actively involved in the Justice Department's criminal investigations of Jimmy Hoffa and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He conducted high profile political investigations, the most prominent was the Bobby Baker case, involving a political advisor to Lyndon B. Johnson. For his work on that celebrated conviction, the US Treasury Department awarded Mr. Rosetti the opportunity to earn a master's in government administration at USC. Mr. Rosetti subsequently served as Northeast Regional Director for the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, US Department of Justice, from 1968 until 1971. Among his accomplishments: installing a radio in every police car in America.
In 1971, Mr. Rosetti joined IBM as the Director of Security worldwide and wrapped up his time there in 1987. In his role as Director of Security for IBM, Mr. Rosetti was a founding member of the US State Department, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Overseas Advisory Council (OSAC).
Joseph Rosetti married Carol Jaffe Goldman in 1985; the two recently celebrated their 40th anniversary together. Mr. Rosetti continued his career as Vice Chairman of Kroll Associates from 1987 until 2000. He then served as Senior Vice President at IPSA International, Inc., from October 2000 to November 2001. In December 2001, he co-founded SafirRosetti with former NYPD Police Commissioner Howard Safir, serving as company President. In 2010, Joseph co-founded Guidepost Solutions with Bart Schwartz, former Chief of the Criminal Division of the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, where he served as Vice Chairman.
Along with then-Secretary of State George Shultz, Mr. Rosetti founded the Overseas Security Advisory Council in 1985; forty years later OSAC has become the world's largest private sector security intel organization. He was a member of the U.S. National Chamber of Commerce Crime Reduction Panel, he was Staff Director for the Conference of the National Commission on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals; he was a member of the Private Security Task Force to the National Advisory Committee on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals; and Chairman of the American Management Association's Council on Crimes against Business.
Mr. Rosetti served on several boards. He chaired Alpine Lace, Inc., and he chaired MediaBay, Inc.. Mr. Rosetti was a trustee of GVI Incorporated. He was a trustee of Widener University where he also served on the Advisory Board of the Widener University School of Business. He served on the board Norwalk Maritime Center.
Joseph Rosetti is among other distinguished Americans who received the 2005 Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
He is survived by his loving family, wife Carol Lee Rosetti, children Richard Rosetti and wife Amy Kaslow, Paul Rosetti and wife Patti, Corinne Halliday and husband William, daughter Karen Rosetti, stepchildren Jennifer Fox, Daniel Goldman and wife Nicole. He leaves behind grandchildren Samuel Rosetti and wife Lauren, Andrea Halliday, Stephen Halliday and wife Morgan, Will Halliday, Pamela, Peter, Paulina and Patrick Rosetti, Sophia Rosetti Cohen and husband Daniel, and Addison Rosetti, step-grandchildren Anna, Eden and Ryder Fox, Lily and Reese Goldman and great grandchildren Joseph Garigliano, Gianna and Lila Rosetti. He was predeceased by stepson-in-law Jonathan Fox.
