I had Mrs. Faulkner for fourth grade at Tashua School. She was one of the most caring and compassionate teachers I have ever had, and she really loved to teach. Her smile was warm, her voice was gentle, and she guided us through fourth grade with a perfect mixture of authority and nurturing. No question was ever silly, no math or science topic could not be brainstormed, and even when I was upset about getting glasses at age 9, she assured me that everything would be okay and that I would enjoy wearing them.

With two daughters who grew up attending Trumbull Public Schools (Tashua, Madison, THS), there were/are so many outstanding teachers, it's difficult to pick just one, but no question about it - Judy Faulkner was right up there at the top of the list. She was so kind, compassionate, and caring. My youngest daughter Eliza had a special bond with her and in recent years they would see each other while Eliza was working summers at the Pro Shop at Tashua Knolls Golf Course. Her former teacher was so proud to see the young woman Eliza had become. In 2006, I was so pleased to be able to bring Judy as my guest to a special awards ceremony at Ellis Island in NYC. We had a great conversation about Irish heritage and other things on the train ride down and back, and while there, she was able to meet Tommy Lasorda, Lee Iacocca, and one of her favorite authors, Frank McCourt. It was such a special day and so wonderful to give back in a small way for someone who left such a lasting and wonderful impression with my daughter. A special prayer to the entire family and community of friends.

Those we hold most dear never truly leave us....They live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared and the love they brought into our lives. (Isabel Norton). Judy, we are so happy to have known you. We will always remember you and the fun trips to Newport. Rest in Peace.
