Judith Troiano Obituary

TROIANO Judith Ann (Armstrong) Troiano, 68, of Monroe, wife of Donald V. Troiano for forty- five years, died August 15, 2011 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport after a courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Thomas F. Armstrong and Jane Bernard Armstrong, Judith was born on August 1, 1943 in Spokane, Washington. She graduated from Stamford Catholic High School and later married her best friend of forty-five years, Donald V. Troiano of Trumbull. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, where she shared a kind smile and open heart with both patients and co-workers. She cherished her time with her family particularly her four grandchildren, attending her grandsons' sporting events and orchestra performances. She was an avid supporter of the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestra. Most of all she enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of the Connecticut shoreline where spent many hours sailing, boating and collecting shells with her youngest grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is survived by three children and their spouses, Michelle Troiano and Christopher Tarrant of Dedham, Massachusetts, Danielle and Frank Page of Monroe, and Jason and Debra Troiano of Rocky Hill; four grand children, Zachary and Kyle Page, Brody Troiano, and Emily Tarrant; two brothers, Michael and Patrick Armstrong; and her sister, Carol Costanzo and husband, John; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 20th at 11 a.m. at St. Stevens R C Church 6948 Main Street Trumbull, CT. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, Swim Across the Sound, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606 (203) 576-5451) [email protected]. Dearest Michelle and Family:
Finding the right words to express the loss of a loved one is never easy. My memories of Judy are that of a woman who knew her fate and didn’t waste a moment. She knew she was in the fight of her life. On those good days, she savored every precious minute with her family and friends. Whether she was sitting at the kitchen table with a glass of wine and laughing with her family or spending time at the beach with her grandchildren, she lived in every moment. It’s this spirit I admired most about Judy, she literally laughed at her mortality. She fought the fight, and now it’s time for her to rest. I believe the poem “Miss Me – But Let Me Go” encapsulates Judy’s strength and wish for those she loved more than anything to live each day to the fullest.
“MISS ME – BUT LET ME GO!”
“When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little--but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared Miss me--but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart go to the friends we know and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss Me - But Let me Go!”
In honoring Judy’s spirit, let’s celebrate life. God’s speed, Judy! You will be dearly missed!
Love, Lou

My father died when I was 10 years old and my mom had to get a job, something she hadn't done since becoming a mother. My family had just moved to CT from NJ 18 months before, so my mom didn't have much of a support system to help her cope with the grief of losing a spouse much less the daily challenges of working full-time and raising two kids. Luckily, one of the few people my mom had had the opportunity to meet was Judy Troiano. Judy was a tremendous help to our family at a very fragile time. It was Judy who drove me home from my first middle school dance, from CPR class, and from countless other activities during middle school and into high school. I will remember her most for her dry, sarcastic sense of humor, which inevitably left me holding my sides! My family moved away from CT when I started college, but over the years I came back to Monroe several times to visit with Danielle, one of my oldest friends. The last time I saw Judy I had just recently become a wife and mother. It was great to talk with her and to hear her say that she was proud I had "turned out OK" despite some struggles during those agonizing teen years. Judy is a small part of who I am today, and I will always be thankful that I knew her.

Dear Troiano Family,
I had the honor of working with Judy for many of my 30 years at St. Vincent's. She was a cheerleader, a coach , a mother and a friend to all....and she always made sure that every patient's needs came first. Her advocacy and compassion will always be remembered by the lucky staff who had the chance to work within her circle of light of love. Many prayers and tears go out to all of you in honor of an amazing, wonderful woman.

Don,
There is nothing I can say to take away your pain.
Your Judy made a lasting impression on those of us who were priviledged enough to have known her and worked with her. Judy was one of a kind and will never be replaced.
She relished life and loved you and the kids more than life itself.
Please know that all who were
blessed to have worked with her, share in your devastating loss.
