Julius Bellaria Obituary
BELLARIA Julius C."Jack" Bellaria, age 88, of Court Street, Keene, N.H., and formerly of Beaumont Street, Fairfield, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 at the Genesis ElderCare facility in Keene, N.H. He was born January 13, 1917 in New Haven, the son of Frederick and Louisella Scarlatta Bellaria. He was a veteran of World War II serving in both the European and Pacific theaters. Mr. Bellaria resided in Fairfield for 30 years where he raised a family and owned and operated his own business, the cornerstone of which was "Jacks Barber Shop" at the intersecton of Sasco Hill Road and Rt.1 "Jacks" was often a Saturday meeting place for Fairfield First Selctman John Sullivan and others talking golf and sports. Jack-s pride in his community involvement was only surpassed by the pride he had in his family. An active of St. Anthony-s Church on South Pine Creek Road and a past commander of the VFW Post of Fairfield, he still had time for little league with his sons and attending his daughter-s concerts. Retiring in 1977, he moved to his summer home "Shaddow Crest" at Rocky Bound Pond in Croydon, N.H. for 10 years. He had been a resident of Keene for the past 20 years. Jack enjoyed a fulfilling lifetime of activity. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed dancing, gardening, bowling and writing poetry. He was a skilled woodworker, making furniture for his family and friends. He also reupholstered and restored old furniture and conducted classes in the art of restoration in Keene, N.H. He is survived by two sons, Frederick Bellaria and his wife, Joanne, of Shelton, and Michael Bellaria and his wife Dee, of Old Lyme, Conn; a daughter, Louise Leitch and her husband, Dan, of Keene, N.H.; a sister, Lee Morris, of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Viola "Vi" Pacific-Bellaria. A memorial service will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Chapel, 23 Central Square, Keene. The Foley Funeral Home 49 Court Street, Keene, N.H. is in charge of arangements. Burial with full military honors, will follow in Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene, N.H.
