Kathleen Koehler Obituary

KOEHLER Kathleen D. Koehler, age 84, of Porter Road, Ocean Park, Maine, formerly of Seymour, died on Friday Janunary 9, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, Maine. She was born in New Haven, on December 5, 1919, a daughter of Alfred S. and Elizabeth (Walker) Davis. She attended schools in Newton, Massachusetts and graduated from Newton High. She went on to graduate from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, becoming an actress and singer on stage and television. She performed with the USO in the Boston area for several years during World War II. Following the USO she resumed her career there as part of the Soap Opera "Seth and Jedd" which ran on television in the Boston area in the 19400s. She retired from her stage career when she married Alfred and moved back to Connecticut, but it did not end her love of the stage. While living in Seymour, she continued her love of the performing arts through her family, being involved in, as well as directing, many of the school and church plays with which her children were involved. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, always there to support her family through all their endeavors. She was also one of the three founding members of the annual Seymour Pumpkin Festival in Seymour. Mrs. Koehler, along with her husband, left Seymour and moved to Ocean Park, Maine in 1979. She was a longtime member of the Ocean Park Association. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Alfred C. Koehler Jr. of Ocean Park; two sons, A. Curtis Koehler III of Ocean Park, and Dr. Richard D. Koehler of Southbury; a daughter, Beth A. Koehler of Portland, Maine; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in the summer of 2004 at a date to be announced. Memorial donations, if desired, can be made to the Ocean Park Association, Ocean Park, Maine 04063. Arrangements are under the direction of Cote Funeral Home, Saco, Maine.
