Kelly Hubbard Obituary

Kelly E. Hubbard Sr.
Kelly E. Hubbard Sr., age 59, entered into peaceful rest on August 22, 2022, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side, following a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was the beloved husband of Linda Marcucio Hubbard. Kelly was born in Derby on December 30, 1962, son of James D. Hubbard of Ansonia and the late Della Ann Closson Hubbard. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was a graduate of Platt Technical High School in Milford where he studied the plumbing trade. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1982 until being honorably discharged in 1986. He was employed as a quality assurance inspector at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for thirty-six years and served as a Teamster Local 1150 Labor Steward. Kelly was a long-time softball umpire in the Valley area and was selected to umpire in five national tournaments throughout the country during his career. He will be inducted into the ASA/USA Softball Hall of Fame in October. He also officiated high school basketball for Board 10 for fifteen years. Kelly was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and loved music, especially Pink Floyd. In addition to his wife and father, he leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Nicole M. Gouveia (John) of Seymour, brothers, James Hubbard Jr. (Ann Marie) of St. Augustine, FL, Martin Hubbard Sr. (Barbara) of Milford, Dennis Hubbard (Linda) of Ansonia, Terence Hubbard Sr. (Laura) of Sebastian, FL and Jonathan Hubbard Sr. (Cindy) of Ansonia, granddaughter, Evelyn Gouveia of Seymour, aunt, Earla Montani of Monroe, best friends, Stephen French of Milford and Carlos Clavarino of Beacon Falls, a son, Trevor Blanger (Courtney) of Lebanon, OR, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Kelly E. "KJ" Hubbard Jr. Relatives and friends may greet the family and pay their respects on Friday August 26, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, all are welcome to attend his funeral by meeting directly at the Church of the Assumption, 61 N. Cliff Street in Ansonia, for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. September 10, 2022

I just learned of Kelly's passing today from my parents, having been out of town on business the past couple of weeks. On behalf of the Haussler family, I'd like to extend our condolences to Mr. Hubbard, Dennis and the entire Hubbard family. Kelly and I were classmates for 8 years at Assumption School, and the family relationship continues today, between my Dad and Mr. Hubbard, who are both members of the local American Legion Post. A fellow Assumptioner gone way too soon. Rest in peace Kelly.

Sending my thoughts and prayers for Kelly's wife and family through their loss. I remember babysitting for Kelly & the rest of the Hubbard "boys" many years ago. Then Kelly and his wife helped my mother during the traumatic loss of my step-father, as they were cross the street neighbors. I can't say enough about what a kind, thoughtful person Kelly was and the world is missing a true hero.

Dear Mr. Hubbard (affectionately "Mr. Hubs"), Linda and family, as well as Jimmy, Marty, Dennis, Terry and Jonathan, I am so very sorry for your loss. You have all been through so much over the years watching both Kelly and KJ battle their health challenges like true champions, with grace and courage. I'm sure there is an element of pride you all feel for the men they both were, even in the midst of your current sadness, that will surely glow and grow forever as time passes. Clearly KJ, and now Kelly, have left us too soon, but both lived life to the fullest and left an impression on all who knew them, even those of us who have moved so far away.

Unfortunately, careers, growing families, life itself, and of course, sheer miles have kept most of us apart for the last several decades and my memories of Kelly are more from his boyhood years than any other period.

Those were good, special times, times that are indelibly etched in my memories. Times when the Hubbards and the Drehers, and other hilltop friends, families and even some relatives tossed in, spent quite a bit of time together at picnics, church functions and family gatherings of all sorts. I distinctly remember Kelly, shorter in stature but with his larger-than-life personality, as well as all of the "Hubbard Boys" playing sports, riding bikes or just hanging out getting into a little harmless trouble, but always having fun (even when they were fighting each other). It was a lot of fun for me to be around you guys, I truly miss those days and all of you.

As I cannot be there this weekend to share my condolences in-person please know that my thoughts are with you and as my father or any of my siblings shake your hands and/or give you hugs of support, I will be channeling some from me through them as well.

Kelly was a very good friend of my brother (Carlos Clavarino). I knew him and his wife - Linda - through all the union fundraisers for his son and my nephew - who both battled the same cancer.
He was a very affable man who inspired positivity and hope! Kelly was genuine and very relatable! I instantly connected with him when I first met him...
While I am heartbroken about his passing - and the grief his wife and daughter are experiencing - he is released from his pain and suffering.

RIP Kelly and may you find joy and comfort in the company of your beloved son - KJ!
