Kenneth Nappi Obituary

Kenneth F. Nappi
Kenneth F. Nappi, age 77, of Shelton entered into his eternal rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Griffin Hospital in Derby. Ken was born in Derby on May 26, 1947, the son of the late Frank and Ermelinda Pagano Nappi. He was a longtime resident of Shelton. Ken was the beloved husband of 43 years to his wife, the late Phyllis Wojciechowski Nappi. He was a graduate of Shelton High School, attended Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, and continued his education at the University of New Haven.
Ken attended the Police Academy and worked as a Supernumerary Officer in the Shelton Police Department for many years. Ken served as the Assistant Chief of Police in Woodbridge and was a Director of the Valley Street Crime Unit. He also served as the Director of Public Safety for the City of Shelton and worked for Connecticut Recycling and Recovery. He was employed as Division Chief of the CT Department of Motor Vehicles and was the inaugural Director of the Shelton Student Transportation Service.
He was serving on the Inland Wetlands Commission of Shelton and was the Vice-Chairman of the Republican Town Committee. He had previously served as the Shelton Planning and Zoning Administrator.
Ken was a longtime active member of the Board of Directors and Past President of the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley and also served on the Board of Directors of Center Stage.
He had a strong dedication to his faith and the St. Joseph Parish Community, serving as the Chairman of the St. Joseph Carnival.
People will tell you that Ken was a smart and intelligent man, a man who knew everything, a man who wanted to help everyone be their best.
He was a loving and compassionate father and grandfather. He shared a special bond with his daughter Kathryn Nappi Miller and enjoyed visiting with her dogs, Boris and Yoda. He loved to attend all of his son Kenny Nappi's sporting events, especially St. Joseph HS Football and Basketball and Roger Williams University Basketball, and he cherished spending time with his beautiful grandchildren, Gianna and Isabella. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Nappi and his wife Cynthia, his former daughter-in-law Kristen Nappi, his former son-in-law Robert Miller, his sister-in-law Trudy Nappi, and among many friends, his longtime and closest friend, Donald Ramia.
Ken was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Nappi.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Thursday, January 16th, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Friday, January 17th, his procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St, Joseph's Church, Coram Avenue, Shelton at 10:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in Mt St Peter Cemetery, Derby.

Katie, Ken, and Family
I was sorry to hear of the passing of your father. He was a dedicated member of the Shelton community, and he worked tirelessly for the good of its residents.
I had the opportunity of seeing his commitment to the St. Joseph´s Parish and the elementary school. Ken was always very supportive of the school, its students, faculty, and staff.
May he rest in peace.

Dear Katie, Kenny and Family,

Bob and I are so saddened with the passing of your wonderful and loving Father. We just had a few good laughs and of course some photos at breakfast (Man´s Time!) when we all were at the right place and the right time recently. You are in Our Thoughts with Love.

There are no words that can adequately express Ken. Those of us who had the opportunity to work with him and have him as a friend have been truly blessed. Along with Paul Guidone, Claire Hendricks, Biago Dillella and others we traveled all over the United States training big cities on the development of block watches associations with funding from an LEAA grant, a brainchild of Ken. We remained friends for over 40 years. I was lucky to speak with Ken last week. I will miss his advice and counsel and more importantly his friendship. What a remarkable human being.
